JULY Wine Tasting

A Trio of Italian STANDOUTS

DATE:  Sunday, July 19th
TIME:  4:30pm
PRICE: $65 ++

Please email jenny@serahonolulu.com for reservations.

On this night, we will taste wines from 3 “game changing” red wine vignaiolo. Each of their wines are unlike anything grown anywhere else. It’s not only about and capturing the character of old vines & exceptional terroirs. It really is how masterful the winemaking is too—managing acids and tannins, without compromising grit and soul in the finished wine. Yes, these three are truly superb and memorable bottlings. Please enjoy.

The night’s line-up.

2020 Terre Nere Etna Rosso “Moganazzi Volte Sciara”
Many have repeatedly and aptly questioned if these sheer, savory reds are more akin to Burgundy or Italy? Etna is an active volcano on the eastern side of Sicily. It rises to over 11,000 feet in elevation and is largely made up of young volcanic soils—basaltic sand, volcanic ash & pumice, just to name 3. The combination of high elevation—2300 to nearly 2500 feet—the soils, the unique & native Nerello Mascalese grape variety, 40-100 year old vines and the Burgundian Cru inspired/ minded winemaking of Terre Nere result in, without a doubt, some very special red wine.

2021 Giulia Negri Barolo “Serendenari”
Nicknamed the BaroloGirl is the winemaking phenom/ superstar of Barolo currently. The combination of the highest elevation vineyards in all of Barolo, the unique soils, being part of a “living” forest and her sensitive, civil & nurturing, quite Burgundian inspired approach to winemaking produce such intentionally incredibly lighter colored, enticingly fragrant, very elegant & refined Baroli. Her wines are truly like no other.

2016 ArPePe Valtellina Superiore Grumello Riserva “Buon Consiglio”
ArPePe was truly a wine altering experience from vineyards, grape growing, winemaking and an incredibly detailed vision and approach to their whole realm. I don’t recall ever experiencing such a comprehensive and thorough vision to growing and making wine. Their wines are so hauntingly ethereal, mineral driven, focused on character done with grit and class. Here is a single vineyard 2016 Riserva just to show you why they are the top of the class.

The Wine Program at SERA

At Sera, we are committed to supporting family-owned and operated estates—producers who farm indigenous grapes, respect their land, and embrace organic and biodynamic practices whenever possible. We celebrate wineries that stand for something—those rooted in tradition as well as those changing the game, all while maintaining a deep connection to food and the dining experience.

Wine at Sera is more than just an accompaniment to a meal—it’s a conversation, a journey, and a reflection of time and place. Our list highlights wines that tell a story of terroir, tradition, and the people behind each bottle. Whether it’s a benchmark bottling from a classic appellation or an exciting discovery from an unexpected corner of the world, every selection is made with purpose and intention.

Designed to be dynamic and ever-evolving, our wine program reflects the seasons, the cuisine, and the guests who walk through our doors. We offer wines that enhance the dining experience, catering to both the curious and the connoisseur—from perfectly aged classics to vibrant, fresh expressions that surprise and delight.

Above all, our goal is simple: to inspire a love for wine through connection, exploration, and hospitality—one bottle, one pour, and one story at a time.
